World Championship of Model Ships 2021 brought to an end
Yesterday, the World Ship Modeling Competition 2021, which was held from 12th to 19th September in Rijeka has ended. At this year's World Ship Modeling Competition, 181 models were evaluated, of which 62 were evaluated as gold, 61 as silver and 44 as bronze.
Representatives of Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Romania and Ukraine competed according to the rules of NAVIGA in section C which has eight classes (C1 - models with oars and sailboats, C2 - models of motor boats, C3 - models of installations , parts of ships, port facilities, parts of ports, parts of shipyards and equipment, C4 - miniature models of ships class C1 to C3 in the ratio 1: 250 or less, C5 - ships in bottles, C6 - plastic models, C7 - cardboard and paper models, C8 - models from the assembly kit, and the best were chosen by the judges of the competition: Martin van Gelderen (main judge), Daniel Ciosu, Lucian Dan, Evgeni Genov, Giuseppe Giraldi, Vladim Goshko, Dmitrij Kalmykov, Mladen Mitić, Maciej Poznanski and Željko Skomeršić.
Eight categories gave eight winners: in the C1 category Yevhen Yepur from Ukraine with the model "120 gun ship Grand Duke Constantine" (1: 100), in the C2 category George Popa from Romania with the model "Remorcher Pachyderme"(1:50), in category C3 Dmitry Kalmykov from Belarus with model "Diorama Ingermanland" (1:85), in category C4 Oleg Khotko from Belarus with model "Destroyer Svirepy" (1: 700), in category C5 junior Denis Nebancea from Romania with model "Diorama" (1: 150), in category C6 Serhii Yavorskyi from Ukraine with model "Heavy cruiser Takao" (1: 350), in category C7 Oleksandr Dron from Ukraine with model "Battleship HMS Dreadnought" (1: 200) and in the C8 category Valeriu Orbu from Romania with the model "Battleship Bismarck" (1: 200) and George Popa from Romania with the model "Remorcher Comenda" (1:48).
The award for the best model of the World Ship Modeling Competition 2021 went to Serhii Yavorskyi from Ukraine for the model "Heavy cruiser Takao" (1: 350), which was rated with the highest 99.33 points.
The most successful Croatian representative at this year's World Ship Modeling Competition 2021 was Roland Vlahović, who was awarded with 4 gold and 4 silver medals in the following categories: in category C2 for the model "Warship SMS Viribus Unitis" (1:45) gold medal, in category C3 for the model "Ship sloops HMS Pegasus" (1:40) and "Sailing ship L'Marante" (1:36) with gold medals, in category C6 for the model "Warship Scharnhorst" (1: 350) with a gold medal, in category C2 for the model "Destroyer Split" (1: 100) with a silver medal, in category C3 for the model "Naval Cutter HMS Alert" (1:30) with a silver medal, in category C6 for the model "Protected cruiser Varyag" (1: 350) with a silver medal and in the C7 category for the Battleship Borodino model (1: 200) with a silver medal.
Among other Croatian representatives, Mili Šantić was awarded with bronze medal in the C1 category for the ''Sailing ship Trabakul'' (1:30), Branimir Šoić with bronze medal in the C1 category for the ''Schooner Angelo Custode'' (1:40), and Željko Fredotović in the category C1 for the model "Fishing boat Gajeta Falkusa" (1:20) with a bronze medal. Mile Bijelić in the category C1 for the model "Sailing ship HMS Royal Caroline" (1: 135) with a gold medal and Igor Petrović in the category C6 for the model "Type VII Submarine” (1:72) with a bronze medal.
The World Ship Modeling Competition 2021 was organized by the Center of Technical Culture Rijeka and the Croatian Association of Ship Modellers under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the City of Rijeka.
